DEACON’S VIEW:

We are several weeks into the new year.  So... how are you doing with your New Years resolutions?  Have you made any and did they stick?  If we have trouble making and keeping them, perhaps we’re making the wrong kind.  Rather than going on a diet, how about changing your lifestyle.  Most diets don’ts work   We lose ten lbs by the end of Feb. . And gain back 15 lbs by the end of April.  Or, Lord help me have more patiences.  Careful what you ask for - you might get it!   Are you a thrifty shopper?  Keep track of the amount you save by being frugal and donate that amount to your favorite charity.  Everyone wins!

And the beat goes on.  Doing something with permanent change in mind can be a process that you will find rewarding.  Here is a simple method that will help you get started: Pick a time and place where and when you won’t be disturbed.  Have a notebook, pen and your favorite cup of whatever.  Try to list 10 things that you would like to be different in your life.  Look over your list.  Select 5 items which will form your target group.  Now, rank these in the order you would like to deal with.  In your notebook, list the things that prevent you from accomplishing this goal.  What would help you achieve the goal?  Try to keep your goals simple and attainable.  You might want to go through this process with another person.  You can help each other.

One thing is for certain - if we don’t make the effort, we will not experience the satisfaction of positive change. Don’t forget to pray and ask God to help.  Its still the most powerful force in all of creation.. GOOD EFFORT AND GOOD LUCK!

Dcn. Patrick
